We Are Better Together

Thought of the Week

We are better together.

Do you ever want to stay home and avoid the “real world”? Sometimes bunkering in can feel more comfortable and sustainable, am I right?

Our culture has dramatically shifted over the years toward greater self-sufficiency. We no longer need to leave our homes for most things. We can order whatever we want and enjoy it without ever seeing daylight. Sadly, personal community has become the same way. We can meet people virtually and never have to meet them face-to-face again.

Is this wrong? No. Is it healthy? Usually not. You see, we are relational beings created to be in relationship with one another. We were created to walk, talk, live, and breathe together. Modern technology is robbing us of our most vital innate functions. We are meant to have an in-person community.

God began creation by partnering up Adam and Eve. Throughout history, we see Him consistently following this pattern. Even the biggest names in history had a support system. No one can be successful alone. We were made for good work here on earth, and if we want to fulfill it, we must realize that we are better together.

Know Him

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.

-Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NLT)

Understand Yourself

Look back on your life and reflect on the times when you experienced the most significant transformation. Did it happen alone, or was it in the presence of others?

Do His Work

This week, reach out to someone you haven’t seen in a while and meet in person to catch up on life or work.
