Hope Brings Healing
Thought of the Week
Hope brings healing.
Do you remember the anticipation for Christmas morning as a child? Or maybe it was the last day of school? Nothing could hold back the expected joy ahead. You had hope that something good was just around the corner.
As we get older, these moments of excitement dwindle, and our focus comes to the real-life issues in front of us. Bills stack up, family members pass, our health declines, and jobs begin to disappoint. Christmas morning and summer days aren’t as exciting as they used to be.
In hopeless situations, you need something to look forward to. Jesus gave the perfect example to follow. As He approached the cross, we saw his impending death, but His hope was in something beyond. He had hope in the promise to come. He knew His crucifixion would lead to a resurrection that would save humanity from eternal death once and for all.
I don’t know the situation you are facing, but I want to encourage you to choose hope. Though you may be suffering now, realize that you can hope in something greater. And when you focus on the good that is to come, your hope will bring healing.
Know Him
"Remember your promise to me; it is my only hope. Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles."
— Psalm 119:49-50 (NLT)
Understand Yourself
What are you struggling with this season? Is anything causing you to lose hope?
Do His Work
Search the scriptures for hopeful promises that speak to your current situation. Write them down and hold onto them this week. Take time each day to recite these promises to yourself.
