We’re All Fulfilling Someone’s Dream

We’re all fulfilling someone’s dream.
As I take my morning walk, I see the hustle and bustle of people heading to work. Each person has a place to go and a job to do. One person in particular stands out to me; she has bleary eyes, hands full of what looks like paperwork for the day, a spill-prone cup of coffee, and an anxious look that says she is running behind.
As I ponder each person’s unique path for the day, I see a myriad of dreams at work. Whether someone is self-employed, running a corporation, working a 9-to-5, or clocking in for a part-time gig, they are all fulfilling someone’s dream.
We each have a dream (sometimes a few) that we hope to accomplish in this lifetime. There is a stir deep within us that speaks of something we could complete with a little extra work and perhaps a bit of luck.
I’ve come to recognize that hard work and luck do play a role in the fulfillment of many dreams. However, the thing that creates more progress than anything else is confidence.
Anyone I’ve seen fulfill a dream holds a strong sense of confidence in themselves and in the outcome their dream will produce. These people weren’t necessarily born with confidence; many of them had to learn it. Confidence typically comes when someone is empowered by a circumstance, another person, or a divine Creator who shows them that what they aspire to accomplish can actually happen.
Unfortunately, most people never gain this confidence. They concede to their circumstances and trudge along, completing whatever is put in front of them. They pursue what others say is right or the least risky option. The frantic morning routines never change. They pursue others' dreams until they run out of energy or reach retirement. Then they sit and wonder what could have been if they had taken a chance on their own dream.
Your life isn’t meant to be spent trudging along in melancholy comfort. Your life is meant for world-changing work. God has a plan He wants you to be part of. He has given you the gifts, talents, and experience to be confident in yourself and your ability to start living out your dream today.
What dreams are stirring in your heart? It doesn’t matter how young or old you are; there’s always something worthwhile to pursue. You can head to work each day in pursuit of someone else’s dreams or the ones you hold deep within. The choice is yours. It’s best to recognize this sooner rather than later, because we’re all fulfilling someone’s dreams.

Take one step toward your dream. It doesn’t have to be big: it could be writing down your idea, sharing it with a close friend, or talking to God about it.
