Waiting Is an Act of Faith

Waiting is an act of faith.

Another day ended, and still no answer. It had been going on for weeks, or was it months? Every day I woke up expecting an answer, only to be left waiting. The process started out easy enough: a few phone calls, then a round of in-person interviews, an in-person visit, and then silence. A lot of silence. A phone call would pop up, and I’d wait. Another interview, then more waiting. I felt like I was part of a long, drawn-out practical joke. 

You're waiting for something right now. It might be a red light, your delivery order, an appointment, a job offer, a diagnosis, a spouse, or a miracle. No matter what it is, you have faith that the result is coming.

The hard part of waiting is when the result is delayed. In a world where things can happen almost instantly, waiting is hard. But waiting is where you will find the most growth. When you are forced to wait, you give up control.

The act of waiting is found throughout Scripture. If it weren't for the truth in God’s Word, I never would have made it faithfully through those months of waiting. I would have given up and forced myself into another job. But God spoke to me over and over again, asking me to wait faithfully.

It took 84 days and 13 rounds of interviews before I was finally offered a dream job, a director role at Forest Home, the largest Christian Camp in Southern California.  Turns out, this whole process wasn’t a practical joke.

The process of waiting was a way for God to strengthen my faith. To this day, whenever I wait for things to come together in life, I remember God's faithfulness.

 As you sit and wait for whatever you are expecting, lift your head a little higher, breathe a little easier, focus on the end result, and remember that waiting is an act of faith.

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
